Gal Gadot Reveals Emergency Brain Surgery During 8th Month of Pregnancy

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot shared that she underwent emergency surgery earlier this year to treat a “massive” blood clot in her brain while eight months pregnant with her fourth daughter, Ori. The 39-year-old actress opened up about the life-threatening experience, calling it a sobering reminder of life’s fragility.

A Frightening Diagnosis

“In February, during my eighth month of pregnancy, I was diagnosed with a massive blood clot in my brain,” Gadot revealed. “For weeks, I had endured excruciating headaches that confined me to bed, until I finally underwent an MRI that revealed the terrifying truth.”

The diagnosis left her and her family grappling with fear and uncertainty. “In one moment, my family and I were faced with how fragile life can be. It was a stark reminder of how quickly everything can change,” she said.

Emergency Surgery

Rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Gadot underwent emergency surgery to treat the clot. Amid the ordeal, her daughter Ori was born. “Thanks to an extraordinary team of doctors at @cedarssinai and weeks of dedicated care, I made it through and began the road to recovery,” Gadot shared.

Now fully healed, she expressed immense gratitude for the medical team that saved her life and for the second chance at life she’s been given.

Lessons Learned and Raising Awareness

Gadot used her post to raise awareness about cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT), a rare condition in which a blood clot blocks blood flow in the brain’s veins. She emphasized the importance of listening to one’s body:

“Pain, discomfort, or even subtle changes often carry deeper meaning, and being attuned to your body can be life-saving,” she wrote.

Gadot noted that while CVT affects approximately 3 in 100,000 pregnant women aged 30 and older, it is treatable if identified early. “Sharing this is not meant to frighten anyone but to empower,” she said. “If even one person feels compelled to take action for their health because of this story, it will have been worth sharing.”

Support and Gratitude

Alongside her message, Gadot posted a photo of herself in a hospital bed breastfeeding her newborn. Messages of love and support poured in from friends, fans, and fellow stars. Jason Momoa, her Justice League co-star, wrote, “Oh mama, we love u.” Meadow Walker, daughter of Gadot’s Fast & Furious co-star Paul Walker, added, “We love u.”

A New Perspective

Through her journey, Gadot found a renewed appreciation for life. “Today, I am fully healed and filled with gratitude for the life I’ve been given back,” she wrote. Her story serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of health awareness and self-care.

Gadot continues to inspire, both on-screen and off, proving once again the strength and resilience that makes her a real-life superhero.
