“Darling, have you gone mad?”
Robert Pattinson, best known for his roles in Twilight and The Batman, was caught off guard when his fiancée, musician Suki Waterhouse, prank-called him with a faux announcement that they’d been asked to host Love Is Blind together.
The prank unfolded as part of Elle’s “Phoning It In” series, where celebrities pull off playful prank calls. Waterhouse took this as the perfect opportunity to prank her “Batman” beau, resulting in an amusing exchange that gave fans a glimpse into their playful relationship.
“Did you call me brother?”
The call began on a strange note when Waterhouse greeted Pattinson warmly with, “Hi, my angel,” only for him to respond, “Hey, darling. Did you call me brother?”
After a brief laugh and clarification, Waterhouse dove straight into the prank. “You know that show Love Is Blind?” she asked.
“Yeah,” Pattinson responded, though it quickly became clear he might not remember the show as well as he thought.
“I just got offered to be the host for Love Is Blind,” Waterhouse claimed, referencing the dating show hosted by Nick and Vanessa Lachey in the U.S. and Matt and Emma Willis in the U.K.
But Pattinson, seemingly unsure of the show’s premise, asked, “Which one is Love Is Blind again?”
Waterhouse explained, “We watched it a while ago. They’re like, ‘Oh, are you my type?’ It’s quite deep, though. I feel like it’s a sociological experiment that’s actually quite beautiful.”
Pattinson, known for his quirky interviews and offbeat personality, sounded unconvinced but polite: “What an interesting turn of events.”
“Darling, have you gone mad?”
Waterhouse ramped up the prank by suggesting they host the show together, saying, “They were saying we could do it together as well, which I thought could actually be quite good.”
That was too much for the Lighthouse star, who asked, “Darling, have you gone mad?”
Waterhouse tried to sell the idea further, joking, “It would be great for you.” Suppressing laughter, she added, “Don’t you think it would be quite good for us?”
Pattinson hesitated, trying to play the supportive partner. “If you think it’s right for you…” he said tentatively, unaware he was being set up.
Finally, Pattinson’s suspicion kicked in. “Are you joking? Is this whole thing a joke?” he asked.
Waterhouse could no longer hold back her laughter and confessed, “Yeah.”
“Wait, I’m not on some TV show, am I?”
Relieved, Pattinson laughed. “I was like, ‘If you think it’s right for you…'”
Waterhouse expressed her affection, saying, “I know, you’re so sweet. I love you. Thank you.”
But then it hit Pattinson: “Wait, I’m not on some TV show, am I?”
Waterhouse assured him, “No, you’re not on TV.” She paused for dramatic effect before cheekily adding, “You are gonna be on the internet, though.”
A playful but exasperated Pattinson groaned, “No! I don’t want to be!”
Unfortunately for him, it was too late.
A Playful Peek into Their Relationship
