Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi are set to bring one of literature’s most iconic and tumultuous love stories to life. The two actors will star in a new adaptation of Emily Brontë’s classic gothic romance Wuthering Heights, directed and written by Emerald Fennell (Promising Young Woman, Saltburn). Robbie will portray Catherine Earnshaw, a passionate and headstrong woman torn between her love for Heathcliff and the social advantages of marrying Edgar Linton. Elordi, reuniting with Fennell after their work on Saltburn, will take on the role of Heathcliff, one of literature’s most brooding and infamous romantic heroes.
In addition to starring, Robbie will produce the film through her production company LuckyChap, continuing her collaboration with Fennell, who worked with the company on both Promising Young Woman and Saltburn. Fennell will also produce the film, with a 2025 shoot planned.@dawsonscreen Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi have been cast in Wuthering Heights by Saltburn director Emerald Fennell 🔥 #fyp #foryou #movies

Details about the adaptation, including whether it will be set in its original 19th-century context or modernized, are still under wraps. However, given Fennell’s prior work, there’s plenty of anticipation for a fresh, gothic take on this beloved story.
Wuthering Heights has seen several screen adaptations over the years, including a 1939 version with Laurence Olivier and Merle Oberon, a 1992 film with Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche, and a more recent 2011 version directed by Andrea Arnold. Now, Robbie, Elordi, and Fennell are set to add their own unique twist to this timeless tale of love and revenge on the moors.
